From first conversation to thriving garden
Every garden project passes through four stages — each one unhurried, each one shaped by the specific conditions of your space. This is what happens between an initial consultation and a garden that grows on its own terms.
Site assessment — where every garden design begins.
Garden consultation
Every project begins with a site visit. We walk the space with you, assess the soil, light, drainage, and existing plants, and talk through what you want from the garden — practically and aesthetically.
A consultation can stand alone as a one-off session, or it can be the first step in a full design process. Either way, it's a conversation — not a sales pitch.
Design brief and concept
From the consultation, we develop a design brief that captures the site's conditions, your goals, and the ecological principles that will guide the planting. This brief becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
We work with what's already there — existing trees, soil type, aspect, and microclimate — rather than imposing a design on top of them. The garden tells us what it wants to become.
"The best garden designs are the ones that feel inevitable — as if the plants were always meant to be there."

Planting plan
The planting plan is a detailed, practical document — not just a pretty drawing. It includes a full plant list with species names, placement guides, spacing recommendations, and seasonal care notes.
We write planting plans for real gardeners. The language is clear, the advice is honest, and the plant choices are suited to your specific conditions — not just what looks good in a catalogue.
Implementation and follow-up
We can help with implementation — sourcing plants, overseeing installation, or working alongside your own gardener. Or we can hand over the plan and let you take it from there. Either approach works.
A follow-up visit six to twelve months after planting is included in all full design commissions. Gardens change — and we want to see how yours is settling in.
A completed planting plan, ready to guide the garden into life.
Succulent classes
Alongside our design work, we run small-group succulent classes throughout the year. These sessions cover care, propagation, arrangement, and the basics of designing with succulents — all hands-on, all practical.
Classes are kept small — usually six to eight people — so there's time for questions, conversation, and genuine learning. Every participant leaves with something they've made themselves.
Ongoing care and advice
Gardens are living systems — they evolve, surprise, and occasionally struggle. We're available for ongoing advice, seasonal check-ins, and care consultations long after the initial design is complete.
The relationship doesn't end when the plan is delivered. We want your garden to thrive, and we're here to help when it needs attention.

The result
The whole process — from first consultation to a garden that's finding its feet — takes time. Most of that time is the garden's own: settling in, establishing roots, learning the light.
That patience is part of the design. We build gardens that grow better with time, not ones that peak in the first season.
